Hello!

I'm Amber Elizabeth, a fourth-generation seamstress with a lifelong passion for sewing. My journey began at just eight years old under the tuition of my mother.

My professional path began at the University of Leeds where I studied Fashion Design. During my studies, I completed a placement year with a Turkish clothing brand headquartered in London. This experience gave me the incredible opportunity to design a menswear outerwear collection and several women’s pieces, which were sold in stores across London, Dubai, and Kuwait. My professional background also includes assisting in Debenhams' sample room and with designer brands such as Emilia Wickstead.

In September 2022, I founded The Sewist & Co launching Beginner Dressmaking Classes and Private 1-2-1 Tuition. Shortly after launching, I travelled to Boston, USA to host my first international hugely successful intensive 5-day Sewing Bootcamp.

In September 2024, I entered TV Channel Sewing Street's Search for a Sewing Star Competition, and was announced as the winner in November 2024, and in January 2025 I made my debut appearance as the TV channel's newest Guest Sewing Demonstrator.

Teaching has become one of my greatest joys - I love helping students grow in confidence and technical ability and always strive to make sewing an enjoyable and accessible experience for all ages. If you've stumbled on my page, why not join my flourishing sewing community!
