For complete beginners we recommend simple patterns with basic features and simple fastenings. Great pattern choices include simple tiered skirts, wide leg trousers with elasticated waistbands and loose-fitting tops or dresses. If you would like to start with a simple tote bag, this is suitable too.

All students will be emailed a detailed manual with essential information after purchasing a course. Students can also Contact Us for feedback.

Students are required to bring their own sewing machine. This will encourage confidence with using a familiar machine. Bringing an overlocker is optional.

If you do not own a sewing machine, please let us know via the Contact Us page. A sewing machine may be provided for you for the duration of the course.

If you change your mind about the course, you are eligible for a full refund up to 7 days prior to the course commencing. A 50% refund will be issued for cancellations less than 7 days prior to the course start date. Refunds are not eligible if a cancellation is requested within 48 hours of the course starting. All refunds are issued at the discretion of The Sewist & Co.
